A lot of people think of a professional photo, and they imagine a corporate look, with a head & shoulders type of shot, and a plain background. Those can work very well, and they may be necessary depending on the type of business you do. Whenever possible, I love getting CREATIVE, and thinking outside the box. Your potential clients will remember you better, if you have a unique photo on your website, or on Facebook, or LinkedIn. A couple of weeks ago, I had the pleasure of doing photos for a ballroom dancer/instructor, and when I suggested that she wear some of her costumes, she got really into it, and we had SO much fun. Eugenia is a beautiful, graceful lady, and the passion she has for her art, really came through! Check out Eugenia’s dancing at www.myballroomlessons.com

Tis’ that time of year again, when families are SCRAMBLING to get a family portrait taken, in time to give beautiful prints to their family as Christmas and Holiday gifts. And here we are in November, with just a few weeks left! If you haven’t started this process, don’t panic. You can always do this as a New Year’s portrait, and schedule one for each January. This morning I did my 4th Family session with Christy, Luis & their 3 boys! And at the end of the morning, Mom & Dad were at each other’s throats…LITERALLY!!! Just for fun, I kept shooting while they horsed around.

Business Head shots with a “friend” |
by admin
When I did the Business Headshots for one of my clients, I brought my “studio” to her home, as it was roomier and more convenient on a weekend, than her office. I accommodated her schedule because she wanted to get her hair and makeup done, and not be rushing during the work day. Her best friend and family pet, Tula, was eagerly observing everything we were doing – trying to make me her new friend, of course. At the end of our session, I offered to take some photos of my client with Tula, and she loved this portrait! I love incorporating something personal into your business image. Bring a prop, or something that really says something about you, and we’ll have more fun, and the photo will be even more unique!

Weddings in the middle of the day, can be a risky venture, especially in the middle of summer. But Amanda & Mike got VERY lucky that their day was not the hottest, and that we had a little cloud cover during the ceremony. They made such a handsome couple, that nothing could have taken away from their bright smiles and loving looks. I really enjoyed being with them and capturing the beauty of their special day!

The Joys of Capturing Babies |

When I first met Sarah, she was so curious about me, and I instantly fell in love! But what I most enjoyed throughout our time together was how she interacted with her mom, and how she followed her mom’s voice and face constantly. Sarah was an angel, allowing us to change her into 4 different outfits! Finally by the end, she was exhausted and hungry. We got her to sleep for a few seconds…long enough to capture a few sleeping images. I want to express my special thanks to her very committed aunt, who made soothing sounds almost incessantly, calming Sarah, and lulling her to close her eyes. I’m looking forward to seeing Sarah grow, and being a part of her family.

It’s my FAVORITE part of my work, when I’m covering an event, like a wedding, and I capture one of those candid moments that just happen, without warning. The emotions, the great expressions – THAT’S what makes great memories. At Jen & Craig’s wedding, we had so much fun, as they did! Thanks to both of them for choosing us to play such an important role in their beautiful day.

Road trip in Photos |
by admin
Two weeks ago, two of my daughters and another adopted daughter, set out on a roadtrip to move one of my girls to California. What a BLAST! We sang and laughed and were silly and truly bonded! I did all the driving (approximately 53 hours spread out over 5 days!). Along the way, I was able to stop and take a few photos. In Baton Rouge, we got to see some of LSU’s beautiful campus, then stopping at a dear friend’s home in the Ft.Worth area, we took family photos of her growing family. The scenery changed nicely as we crossed the Texas border into New Mexico, and the weather cooled rapidly as well. We actually experienced snow flurries just outside Albuquerque, on our way to the Grand Canyon.
I have precious memories that I will treasure always from this trip. Here are just a couple of photos.

This family photographer is going off with my family on a road trip to California! And preparing lenses, camera equipment, is all SO important! I will be mostly driving, as I’m helping one of my daughters move there, but I’ll be back on May 7th with photos. If I’m able to blog while on the road, I DEFINITELY will! Meanwhile, please visit my Facebook page, and if you’re not yet connected to me there, just find me under SnapHappy Photos, and “friend” me!
